Nobody warned me about the tooth

I didn't know that Cameron losing his first tooth was gonna be such a big deal.................for me.  I knew it was gonna be a big deal for him.  After years of watching his friends lose their teeth and get new ones, Cameron finally lost his first baby tooth.   It was a big wait for him.  He watched classmates lose them in kindergarten and he couldn't wait until he lost one.  Kindergarten finished, no lost teeth.  Same thing in first grade.  Almost through his second grade year and he finally lost a tooth.  He asked me to pull it out, actually.  It was past bed time and I knew there wasn't going to be any sleeping going on if that tooth was still dangling in his mouth all night.  He really wanted it out and he wanted it out right away.  So, he braced himself and told me he would be brave.  He was so brave.  We got it out and the anticipation of that tooth coming out hit us both like a ton of bricks.  He couldn't believe it was out and ran to the mirror to see his smile.  I held that tooth in my hands and cried.  I wasn't expecting that.  My baby lost his tooth.  He isn't going to have that baby tooth any more.  He is gonna lose them all and get big teeth.  It is such a funny thing to me how that works.  The tooth in my hand reminded me that life goes so fast even when you are waiting for something exciting to happen.  We celebrated that tooth.  I let him stay up to tell daddy when he got home and call both sets of grandparents.  It was a big deal.  Every time I look at that smile I get a little ball in my throat.  I know it sounds silly but that tooth that he got so long ago was a part of him for so long and now its done.  I am reminded how special these years are with our boys.  I wish somebody would have warned me that the tooth was gonna be such a big thing and that I  might cry :)  Love you buddy!

Whistle

Cameron came home from school with a huge smile on his face.........and then he whistled.  He has been practicing this for a really long time.  He used to think he was whistling when he was making high pitched noises but now he can do it for real!  So proud of him!

First Day of School

Cam started first grade this year and he was so excited!  He was looking forward to spending time with his friends, doing school activities, and I think getting a break from his little brothers :)  He is having a great week and loves his new teacher!

 

 

Mother's Day Spa

I was invited to Cam's school for a Mother's Day Spa.  He could not wait!  Talked about it for weeks!  It was just the sweetest thing ever.  He filled out a little questionnaire about me, too.  He did my nails and toenails (the other moms thought I was brave for the toenails), read a book together, had a snack, he gave me a massage, made a flower pen, and he made me a bracelet.  What a special day with my Cam.  Loved it and I still wear my bracelet!

Cam's 6th birthday

My baby turned 6 this year!  When he turned 5 it didn't seem very old, but to say "I have a 6 year old." Whew! I would say that time flies when your having fun and we all know that.  I really am, though.  I am having so much fun! Cameron wanted a CARS party so our awesome family came over and we had one!  It was a great time!  Here are some pics from the day.

Cam's graduation

Cameron graduated from preschool and is heading to kindergarten in the fall.  They had a cute little ceremony and it was fun to watch him perform some things and celebrate with cake and punch.  Grandma R came and we had a great time!

Cameron

Cameron is 5 and is getting more and more independent but definitely still needs his hugs and kisses and we love to give them. He goes to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday and loves it. He is learning so much. I have realized parenting gets much harder the older they get. God has taught me a lot about myself giving me these 3 boys to love and raise :) There is no better way for Cameron to learn about listening and respecting than for me to listen and respect him.

Cam loves to paint and color pictures. One of his favorite things is to recreate a picture that he sees. He did an awesome job on one yesterday and has it taped up above his bed and couldn't be prouder. He loves to help take care of Nolan and Austin. If he sees something that one of them needs and he thinks he can help, he does it right away. I don't want to know how he was able to wind Austin's mobile in his crib for him the other day while I was in the shower.....He loves to play games like Guess Who, Candy Land, and matching games. Cameron loves to let people borrow his toys. I love to see his kind heart in that. If only he always had that in the back of his mind when playing with Nolan! Cameron loves to eat tacos, drink chocolate milk, and eat nutella sandwiches. He gets Highlights magazine in the mail and we have had a lot of fun with those. He loves to hear the stories, find the hidden pictures, and sounding out some words in the magazine. Some of my favorite times with Cam are when we are cuddled up with the Highlights magazine in the afternoons. He loves to wear his Cubs hat and have races. He brushes his teeth really hard no matter how many times we show him how to do it more gently, he likes to set up some massive train layouts in the basement, and does a nice job picking out his clothes in the morning.
