Cameron went to an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist on Monday for a follow up app. for a swollen lymphnode and a bacteria that had been growing in his throat. The doctor sent us to the hospital to get admitted. Cameron needed some strong antiobiotics through an iv and possibly surgery on his neck. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights. Cameron was terrified, which made him a strong fighter and didn't allow the doctors and nurses to do what was orignally planned. He had a ct scan, that I held him down for, and 8 attempts to get ivs (Jake held him down every time), and they all ended up bursting his veins. He had the surgery on his neck, which they drained out lots of puss. They got his iv in after relaxing him with laughing gas and putting him completely out. It was a scary time. One that I don't want him to experience ever again. We are home now and settling back into our routine. Cameron is recovering well and was able to fall asleep tonight without me holding him. We have some follow up appointments in which we will find out more, but it seems like he is doing well and we are heading in the right direction.
Here are a couple of pictures from Cam's time in the hospital. We didn't have our camera so these were taken with a cell phone and are not very clear. The first one is of us in his crib. He was not about to get in there without me b/c that is where they tried to get the iv in his arms and feet.
In this one he looks very happy and he was when he was left alone and there were no doctors or nurses working on him. You can kind of see his bandage on his neck from his surgery and his arm that was wrapped from the iv.
Here is a video from earlier today. Cameron is very happy to be home and is busier than ever!
