Awkwardness at Starbucks
Jake and I stopped in at Starbucks yesterday. We were in for a little treat and it wasn't just the refreshments that we got. We got our drinks and found ourselves a seat. As we walked to our table I noticed a couple, maybe in their 20s sitting next to the only empty table. So, we sat next to them. They seemed to be in deep conversation. The girl had her hand on the table and the guy that was with her had both of his hands on top of her hands and was caressing them. They may as well have pulled the table aside because they were leaning so far across the table that they should have been able to see each and every pore on the other person's face. Jake happen to be in the seat that was facing them. Lucky boy. About 20 minutes went by and they continued to just stare at each other and he was not about to let go of her hands. Why is that so awkward? I felt as though I should not have been there. That I should have rounded everyone in Starbucks up and herded them out so these people could stare each other down in privacy. At one point I saw Jake look at my hand. I knew by the look in his eyes that he was thinking about doing the same thing as a joke. We held back. It was hard. At one point a customer came in, made her order, and was waiting for her mocha. She happen to look over and see our friends. She just stared at them..for awhile and just watched them in bewilderment and amazement. She also looked uncomfortable. Let's not forget about the guy drinking his coffee in the corner. He had a computer and all kinds of books, but it was clear that he was just holding up his books and watching them the entire time. I am all about showing affection in public, but there was something about the couple at Starbucks that made this public display of affection slightly uncomfortable.

Maybe it was a staring contest.
Or an awkward contest.
That happens all the time at the Lion's Den in Bellflower......
